A quiet place to relax yet close to many activities for the whole family. Bike Trails, Kickapoo River Canoeing & Kayaking. Spring brings the ephemerals. Wildflowers push their way through the leaves on the forest floor, and with them, the delicacies of spring—morel mushrooms, fiddlehead ferns, and ramps. Hundreds of bird species begin their migration up the Mississippi Flyway and through contiguous forests. Trout fishing begins and turkey hunters prowl the woods.
The Driftless Area is known for its trout streams. Class I streams like Timber Coulee that flows from Westby through Coon Valley towards Chaseburg, or the West Fork of the Kickapoo River, flowing through Bloomingdale and Avalanche, have the type of high quality waters to sustain natural populations of brook and brown trout.

Summary: Listen y'all, this spot is really great. If you are on the fence about booking, go for it!. Rick was great to work with and responded to questions quickly. The barn/cabin is super cozy, clean, and has what you need for making meals, getting good sleep, and keeping entertained (as if the Amish buggies going by wasn't enough entertainment). We were close to town, but remote enough to feel the peace. We fished for trout almost every day - you'd need a lifetime or two to hit all the streams nearby. It's just gorgeous in this area. We will be back, and will most certainly book the barn again.
